NOTIFY Privacy Policy
_Privacy rules for the NOTIFY smart reminder and alert platform_
1. About NOTIFY
NOTIFY is a smart reminder and alert platform designed to help
individuals and professionals remember important dates, deadlines and
commitments. NOTIFY may deliver timely reminders through SMS, email, app
notifications and other supported channels. Examples include vehicle
insurance and technical inspection renewals, medical appointments and
medication schedules, flights and travel deadlines, passport or visa
expiry dates, project deadlines, contract renewals, bills, rent and
personal or family events.
In this Privacy Policy, "we", "us" and "our" mean "NOTIFY", with
its registered address at S-bend Mile 3 Nkwen Bamenda, Cameroon.
2. Scope of This Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how NOTIFY collects, uses, stores, shares
and protects personal data when you use our website, mobile application,
SMS or email reminder services, customer support, payment features and
related services. It also explains your privacy rights and how to
exercise them.
3. Personal Data We Collect
Depending on the features you use, we may collect:
- Account and identity data: name, username, language, country and
account identifiers.
- Contact data: mobile number, email address and preferred notification
channels.
- Reminder data: dates, times, descriptions, categories, recurrence
settings and notes you enter.
- Vehicle-related reminder data: for example, insurance or technical
inspection expiry dates and optional vehicle identifiers.
- Health-related reminder data: for example, appointment dates,
medication names, schedules or other information you choose to enter.
- Travel-related reminder data: for example, flight dates, passport or
visa expiry dates and travel notes.
- Professional and financial-deadline data: for example, contract
renewals, project deadlines, bills, rent or other due dates.
- Payment and transaction data: transaction references, payment status
and limited billing information received from payment providers.
- Technical and usage data: IP address, device and app information,
logs, notification status, crash information and interactions with the
service.
- Support and communications data: information you provide when
contacting customer support or communicating with us.
4. Data You Choose to Put in a Reminder
The content of a reminder may itself contain personal data. For example,
a reminder may identify a doctor's appointment, medication, vehicle
document, flight, passport expiry date, rent payment or contract
deadline. We process that information to create, schedule, manage and
deliver the reminder you requested.
NOTIFY follows a data-minimization approach. Unless a feature
specifically requires it, you should not upload or enter an entire
document merely to create a reminder when an expiry date, reference or
short description is sufficient.
5. Sensitive Personal Data
Some reminders may reveal sensitive information, particularly health
information or financial/payment-related information. NOTIFY will apply
enhanced safeguards to sensitive personal data and process it only where
a lawful basis and any additional legal requirements are satisfied.
A medication or medical-appointment reminder does not make NOTIFY a
healthcare provider. Health-related data is used to provide the reminder
or related feature requested by the user, unless another purpose is
clearly disclosed and lawfully authorized.
6. How We Collect Personal Data
- Directly from you when you register, create or edit reminders, select
notification preferences, make a payment or contact us.
- Automatically from your device or use of the service, such as security
logs and delivery status.
- From service providers, such as payment, SMS, email or authentication
providers, where necessary to operate NOTIFY.
- From a third-party integration only when you activate or authorize
that integration and the collection is lawful.
7. Why and How We Use Personal Data
- Create, authenticate and manage your NOTIFY account.
- Create, schedule, send, repeat, update and cancel reminders at your
direction.
- Deliver notifications through your chosen channels.
- Process subscriptions and payments and maintain transaction records.
- Provide customer support and respond to requests.
- Detect fraud, abuse, security incidents and technical problems.
- Measure service reliability and improve NOTIFY's functionality and
user experience.
- Comply with applicable laws and lawful regulatory or judicial
requests.
- Send promotional communications only where permitted and subject to
applicable consent or opt-out rights.
8. Legal Basis for Processing
We process personal data only where there is an appropriate legal basis
under applicable law. Depending on the activity, this may include your
consent, performance of a service you requested, compliance with a legal
obligation, protection of health or another basis permitted by law.
Where we rely on consent, you may withdraw it, subject to applicable
law. Withdrawal does not make earlier lawful processing unlawful.
9. SMS, Email and Other Notifications
By activating a notification channel and providing the relevant contact
details, you authorize NOTIFY to send the reminders and service
communications you request through that channel. Delivery can depend on
telecommunications networks, email providers, internet connectivity,
device settings and other third parties.
Service reminders are different from promotional communications. Where
the law requires consent for marketing, NOTIFY will seek it separately
and provide a way to opt out of promotional messages without disabling
essential account or service communications.
10. Payments
NOTIFY may accept payments through supported methods such as MTN Mobile
Money, Orange Money and Visa or other payment providers made available
in the service. Payment providers may collect and process information
under their own privacy terms. NOTIFY should not store full card
credentials unless necessary, lawful and protected to the standard
required for payment-card processing.
11. When We Share Personal Data
- Service providers that help us operate NOTIFY, including hosting,
cloud, SMS, email, authentication, analytics, security,
customer-support and payment providers.
- Professional advisers such as lawyers, auditors or insurers where
necessary and subject to appropriate duties of confidentiality.
- Public authorities, regulators, courts or law-enforcement bodies where
disclosure is required or permitted by law.
- A buyer, investor or successor in connection with a genuine corporate
transaction, subject to confidentiality and applicable privacy
requirements.
- Other parties when you expressly direct or authorize us to share
information with them.
12. We Do Not Sell Personal Data
NOTIFY does not sell users' personal data. We do not permit third
parties to use personal data obtained through NOTIFY for their own
unrelated advertising merely because they provide infrastructure or
services to us.
13. Data Retention
We retain personal data only for as long as reasonably necessary for the
purpose for which it was collected, including providing active
reminders, maintaining an account, resolving disputes, preventing fraud
and meeting legal, accounting or regulatory obligations. Different
categories of data may have different retention periods.
Where a reminder is deleted or an account is closed, associated
information will be deleted or anonymized when it is no longer required,
subject to lawful retention obligations and backup cycles.
14. Security
NOTIFY uses reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to
protect personal data from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration,
loss or destruction. Measures may include access controls, encryption
where appropriate, authentication, logging, backups, secure development
practices, confidentiality obligations and incident-response procedures.
No internet, mobile or electronic storage system can be guaranteed to be
completely secure. Users should protect their passwords, devices and
verification codes and should promptly report suspected unauthorized
account access.
15. Personal Data Breaches
If NOTIFY becomes aware of a personal-data breach, we will investigate
and take appropriate containment and remediation measures. We will
notify the competent authority and affected persons where and within the
circumstances required by applicable law.
16. International Data Transfers
Some cloud, messaging, email, analytics or other technology providers
may process data outside Cameroon. NOTIFY will only make international
transfers in accordance with applicable Cameroonian requirements,
including obtaining required authorization and implementing appropriate
safeguards where applicable.
17. Your Privacy Rights
Subject to applicable law, you may have rights to:
- Be informed about the processing of your personal data.
- Access personal data held about you.
- Correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Request deletion of data where the legal conditions are met.
- Object to or request restriction of certain processing.
- Withdraw consent where consent is the basis for processing.
- Request portability of eligible data where applicable.
- Object to direct marketing.
- Lodge a complaint with the competent personal-data protection
authority.
18. Children
NOTIFY is not designed for children to independently create accounts
unless expressly offered for that purpose. Where personal data of a
person under 18 is processed and applicable law requires parental or
legal-representative authorization, NOTIFY will require that
authorization. A parent or guardian using NOTIFY to create reminders
concerning a child must have authority to provide the relevant
information.
19. Cookies, Analytics and Similar Technologies
NOTIFY's website and application may use cookies, software development
kits and similar technologies for essential functionality,
authentication, security, preferences, performance and analytics. Where
consent is legally required, users will be given appropriate choices.
20. Automated and Intelligent Features
NOTIFY may introduce intelligent features that help users organize,
categorize, schedule or personalize reminders. Where automated
processing is used, NOTIFY will apply applicable transparency, security
and user-rights requirements. NOTIFY will not treat automated reminder
suggestions as authoritative legal, medical, immigration, financial or
professional advice.
21. Third-Party Links and Services
NOTIFY may link to or integrate with third-party services. Their privacy
practices are governed by their own policies. NOTIFY is not responsible
for the independent privacy practices of third parties, but we will use
appropriate contractual and security measures for service providers
processing personal data on our behalf where required.
22. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes to NOTIFY,
technology, business practices or law. Where changes are material, we
will provide appropriate notice before or when the revised policy takes
effect, as required by law.

relating to personal data protection in Cameroon, together with other
applicable cybersecurity, electronic communications, consumer, health
and payment requirements. Where NOTIFY expands to other countries,
additional jurisdiction-specific notices or requirements may apply.
